Read the Bible in a Year Daily Schedule

We are going to follow-up on going Back to Basics with reading through the Bible in a Year.  Here’s how it works. We’ll publish reading guides in the monthly newsletters, in the bulletins and online. (The reading guide will mirror the one you can find in your hymnal, which roughly follows the church year.) The Saturday/Sunday sermon will come from something you read last week. But the Bible is such a big book; how will I ever read it all in just one year? Yes, the Bible is a big book. But it only takes about 15 minutes each day to read through it in a year. That’s 1% of your time to read the entire Bible!

If you’re on the fence about whether or not you want to commit to reading the Bible, I encourage you to find someone who has read the Bible cover-to-cover who does not think it was a good use of their time. That person might be out there, but I have yet to find them. Talk to a person who has read the Bible cover-to-cover and odds are you will be talking to someone whose life was changed by God’s Word, whose faith has grown, and whose commitment to Christ has been strengthened.

The Scriptures are living and active, breathed out by God and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness; it is they which testify about Christ, and through which God works to create and strengthen faith. Let’s make 2018 the year when, as a congregation, as families, and individuals, we commit ourselves to reading the Bible in a Year!
